What is Minotor
Minotor is free software dedicated to VJing. The goal of this project is to create a powerful tool to enhance musical performance with synchronised animations.
Minotor has been designed to produce low-resolution graphics adapted to LED matrix displays. Minotor's team works for the moment with a 24 × 16 pixel matrix, but you can use Minotor with higher resolutions.
You can use Minotor with any display, like a screen or a video projector, but the rendering resolution must stay relatively low — no Full HD here :)
Minotor is ready for live performance and is fully controllable using any MIDI controller.
In our vision, producing beautiful animations is a good thing, but synchronising these animations with the music is essential. To do this we decided to work using the MIDI protocol. This means that Minotor is a MIDI device that needs to receive MIDI clock information, for example from Ableton Live, Traktor or any MIDI sequencer.
It's also possible to run Minotor in standalone mode (with its internal clock), but for best results you should consider getting the clock from your external sequencer.
